DESCRIPTION

Descale a Nespresso coffee maker.

PROCESS

Nespress Vertuo Deluxe

Nespress Vertuo Plus

  1. Turn the machine On and empty the top/discard used pods if not done already.
  2. Fill the tank with Nespresso descaling solution and a minimum of 0.5 l (17 oz) of water. Don’t add too much water or the descaling solution will be too diluted.
  3. Turn the machine OFF
  4. Push the button AND the top/head lever down for min 3 seconds. The light will turn steady orange, the machine is now in the service/special functions menu.
  5. Press the lever down once within 2 minutes, to start Descaling. The light will blink/flash orange once every 2 seconds, indicating it’s in the Descaling mode.
  6. Place a (large) container to collect the used descaling solution at the spout.
  7. Push the button Descaling will commence. Wait for about 20 minutes for the tank to be emptied. Make sure the tank has run dry, do not interrupt the process! Orange light will keep blinking as it does for normal brewing.
  8. Rinse and clean the empty water tank. Fill it up with clean, fresh water, at least 900 ml (32 oz) and install it back in the machine.
  9. Place a collection container at the spout.
  10. Push the button for the rinsing process to begin. Orange light will flash again as in a normal brewing process.
  11. Let the tank run empty again (you can interrupt the process at any time by pressing the button, but you should at least let one tank empty for a good rinsing and to allow the descaling process to complete).
  12. Press both the button and the lever down for > 3 seconds after the tank has run dry. This will exit the service/special functions menu:. The light should go steady green, signaling it’s ready.
  13. Let the machine cool off Especially if you ran more than one rinsing tank through it, before using it, otherwise it may trigger an overheating alarm (Nespresso recommends to give it 10 minutes “to dry” before using it).
